Karma Gyesera Wins 2027 Green Luxury Car of the Year Award

09.16.2026

One of Karma Automotive’s core missions, alongside crafting rolling sculptures and reviving the American ultra-luxury segment, is cultivating and sustaining the natural world around us through our revolutionary Hybrid Extended-Range Electric (EREV) technology.

Other manufacturers are just announcing their own Hybrid EREV programs, but we’ve been pioneering Hybrid EREV for over a decade.

The rest of the world is taking notice. One such outlet is the Green Car Journal; who, for their 22nd annual Green Car Awards, bestowed the title of 2027 Green Luxury Car of the Year to our Gyesera Grand Coupe.

About the Awards

The Green Car Awards are an annual commencement that, in the Journal’s terms, “(celebrates) standout vehicles that advance environmental progress as the auto industry evolves and defines its future” with a specialized focus on the areas of “engineering focus, design intent, and environmental achievement”.

Each vehicle selected by the Journal represents the pinnacle of their respective categories, including Premium, Urban, Neighborhood, Luxury, Minivan, SUV, Commercial, Family, and overall Green Car of the Year. We are honored to have been awarded Green Luxury Car of the Year.

Gyesera: The 2027 Green Luxury Car of the Year

The Journal voiced its appreciation for Gyesera’s “combination of design, craftsmanship, and extended-range capability”, as well as the “distinctive and highly-refined take on modern grand touring” it delivers. The Journal also spotlighted Gyesera’s range assurance capabilities that ease the consciences of those looking for “refined long-distance touring in a high-end premium package”.

Karma Gyesera.

Gyesera’s design stands as a beacon of timeless beauty in a sea of sameness. Sporting our signature forward Target Lighting, sculpted Comet Line across the hood, and Backslash motifs on the front fenders and front/rear bumpers, it is unmistakably Karma. Its sensuous fender forms, long dash-to-axle ratio, and tight relation between the wheels and fender arches hearken back to the heyday of timeless American design while adapting it for the modern age.

Hand-crafted in California, Gyesera is fashioned with premium materials sourced from esteemed suppliers from around the world. Bridge of Weir leather, HRE wheels, Pirelli tires, Brembo brakes, and audio options from JL Audio or Master & Dynamic come together to fashion something truly extraordinary.

Gyesera’s Hybrid EREV platform offers up to 360 total miles of range: 80 all-electric miles, and 280 generator-assisted miles. Not only is this technology revolutionary, it’s also industry leading, offering the efficiency of an electric vehicle with the range assurance of traditional internal combustion. Bolstered by 566 horsepower and a 0-60 of 3.7 seconds, it’s no slouch, either. Who said the future needed to be boring?

Dialogue With Our President

The 2027 Green Car Awards weren’t our only feature in The Green Car Journal. Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of the Journal and overseer of the Green Car of the Year awards, sat down with our President and Chief Executive, Marques McCammon, for meaningful dialogue about all things Karma in the Journal‘s Issue No. 52.

Karma President and Chief Executive, Marques McCammon.

Before launching into the interview, Cogan writes: “It’s hard to mistake a vehicle bearing the Karma name for anything else on the road. With its striking design and unmistakable presence, a Karma model tends to turn heads wherever it appears.”

Off to a good start.

In tandem with Cogan’s questions, Marques takes readers on a journey through Karma’s history, identity, and roadmap.

“We’re at an incredibly exciting moment, with the introduction of the Karma Gyesera Grand Coupe, the successor to the Revero, due in showrooms by the end of the year,” says Marques. A bit later, he teases: “We also have a little surprise coming to the Las Vegas Concours in October, a very special, highly limited series which I can’t tell you more about just yet.”

Gyesera: Past vs. Present

One question Cogan asks in his interview revolves around Gyesera’s shift from pure electric to Hybrid EREV. Indeed, the Gyesera we revealed at Amelia Concours in 2024 was shown as a pure EV; however, the redesigned Gyesera we showcased at The Quail by The Peninsula, A Motorsports Gathering in 2025 debuted as a Hybrid EREV. So, why the change?

“We shifted the strategy for Gyesera from pure EV to Hybrid EREV for the same reason many OEMs rethought their electrification strategy – because demand for EVs is not yet at the level initially anticipated,” shares Marques. “Fortunately, as a low-volume manufacturer, we’re nimble to change and can quickly react, so we pivoted to Hybrid EREV.”

What Will Karma Be Known For?

Cogan concludes his piece with a hard-hitting question: looking ahead to 2030, what will Karma be known for that it isn’t known for today?

“By 2030, I would hope that the world sees that Karma created a new definition of what ultra-luxury and supercar vehicles could be,” Marques states. “A model that embraces a technology profile, that leans into the future but still provides direct emotional connection to the experience of driving and doesn’t relegate that just to software and robotics.”

Left to right: Karma Kaveya, Karma Amaris, Karma Gyesera.

Marques leaves readers with the following: “(Karma should be known as) a catalyst for people rediscovering their love affair with the automobile and driving. All as embodied through an American brand. That is what people should see of Karma in 2030.”

Your Gyesera Awaits

Our vision for 2030 is already in motion with Gyesera slated for showrooms this December and Amaris, Kaveya, and Ivara to follow in the coming years. Oh, and there’s also that little surprise Marques mentioned that you’ll see in November. Stay tuned.

We’re pleased that The Green Car Journal elected Gyesera as the 2027 Luxury Green Car of the Year, and we’re appreciative of the spotlight it shone on our past, present, and future for all to see. However, this is only the beginning. There’s much more work to be done.
